Viccarbe’s designer Meike Harde was fascinated by the two worlds of strict geometry and the natural irregularity of fabric. She wanted to create a piece that looked architectural, almost like a carved block, yet revealed softness, movement, and human touch up close. This contrast became the foundation of the Cubow design story.
The Form: A Cube That Breathes
The outer silhouette of the Viccarbe Cubow is intentionally framed and geometric. It’s a quiet, grounded shape meant to bring visual calm to modern spaces. The bold contrast defines this design, starting with a clean, geometric base. But the moment you look closer, you see there is much more.
A single, expressive wrinkle, called an “invisible knot” in the center, breaks the perfection of the cube. It’s a subtle inward pull creates a natural, organic detail: a distinctive wrinkle that speaks to individuality and gives warm, welcoming vibes. These two contrasts create a lounge that feels alive, as if the fabric is gently exhaling within its structured frame.
Material as Muse
Unlike many lounge chairs where upholstery is secondary, Cubow treats fabric as the protagonist of its story.
