Our team has no shortage of favorite pieces, and this week’s pick is another standout. As part of our summer series, we are spotlighting the furniture we wouldn’t want to live without.

This week we are spotlighting Taiko Tatenami, a Director, Strategic Accounts on our team.

With 26 years of industry experience, Taiko has been a part of many sides of the industry as a designer, field PM, and account manager. This diverse background has equipped her with a unique ability to balance creative vision with logistical precision, making her a trusted collaborator across disciplines.

Taiko’s current favorite is a new piece by Viccarbe called Cubow, which she had the chance to try out at NeoCon this past June.

It is SUPER comfortable when you sit in it.

A Deep Dive into the Cubow Seating Collection from Viccarbe

Cubow, designed by Meike Harde, is a playful blend of soft curves and structured geometry. At first glance, it feels sculptural, almost like a folded cloud, but once you sit down, it’s all about comfort. The lounge chair and sofa in the collection are shaped to support a variety of sitting positions, making them ideal for everything from casual chats to focused work sessions.

One of the most distinctive features is the subtle knot at the center. It’s not just decorative, it creates a natural wrinkle in the fabric that adds texture and depth, while also symbolizing the balance between tension and softness. It’s a small detail, but it gives the piece a tactile richness that invites you to lean in and relax.

What makes Cubow stand out is how it supports active sitting without sacrificing comfort. The upright design encourages good posture, making it a smart choice for office lounges, hotel lobbies, or even home workspaces. The sofa version is especially versatile, it’s soft enough for lounging, but structured enough to support informal laptop use.

Cubow is available in Viccarbe’s full range of fabrics, all backed by a durable technical base. The design nods to 1970s seating styles but reimagines them for today’s flexible, multifunctional spaces. Underneath its cozy exterior is a solid wood frame with a webbed seat, built to last. Optional features like hidden casters or adjustable legs make it easy to adapt to different environments.

At Waldner’s, everyone has that one piece they can’t get enough of, whether it’s a timeless classic or a bold new design. Each Friday, we’re spotlighting a different team member’s favorite furniture pick, along with the story behind it. From sleek Steelcase chairs to cozy lounge pieces from their brand partners, get ready to discover what inspires our team, and maybe find a new favorite of your own.
